Provincial Bargaining Update: Progress Remains Slow

The OECTA Provincial Bargaining Team (PBT) met with representatives of the Government of Ontario and the bargaining team representing all Catholic school boards on July 18 and 19, to continue negotiations for the renewal of the central terms of our collective agreement.

Additionally, as indicated in the Provincial Bargaining Update on June 29, the Ontario Labour Relations Board (ORLB) has begun to hear matters brought forward by the Association related to the “scope” of central bargaining and the “bad faith bargaining” complaint filed by the Association. The hearings are ongoing, and the Association is hopeful that the results will help expedite the Association’s continued efforts to move the bargaining process forward.

While progress remains slow at the provincial bargaining table, the PBT continues to make every effort to
move negotiations forward to achieve a fair collective agreement for Catholic teachers.

Discussions between the parties will continue at the provincial table on August 15, 16, and 23. Members
are encouraged to continue to check your personal email address throughout the summer for important
bargaining updates.
