New Bargaining Dates Scheduled

The OECTA Provincial Bargaining Team (PBT) has confirmed the following dates with the Government of Ontario (Crown) and the Ontario Catholic School Trustees’ Association (OCSTA), to continue negotiations for the renewal of the central terms of our collective agreement: April 3, 4, 12, and 13. Although there are still matters before the Ontario Labour Relations Board (OLRB) related to the “scope” of central bargaining and “bad
faith bargaining” complaints, the Association remains committed to meeting with representatives of the
Crown and OCSTA, and so bargaining will continue.

As is obvious from previous updates, while discussions have been taking place, the pace of progress has
been slow. In an effort to move negotiations forward in a meaningful way, the PBT has met internally on
multiple occasions to discuss the variety of options and resources available within the bargaining process,
so that we may draw upon our considerable experience and expertise to assist in making progress at the
bargaining table.

Our expectation is that the representatives of the Crown and OCSTA share our desire to engage in
meaningful negotiations, and are willing to work collaboratively toward realizing a fair collective agreement.
Further information will be provided in future bargaining updates.
